at Sycamore Shoals State Historic Area in Elizabethton. A public ceremony is scheduled at 10 a.m., September 18, 2010 on the grounds of the SYCAMORE SHOALS STATE HISTORIC AREA at Old Fort Watauga where our Patriot forefathers gathered before crossing the mountains to engage Patrick Ferguson and his men at Kings Mountain. The Battle of Kings Mountain, fought on October 7, 1780, is considered to be the major turning point in the Revolutionary War.
