Woodsmoke Campground

Located .10 mile off I-26, exit. 32. The distinctive totem, carved by Unicoi County artist and Woodsmoke Campground owner Urban Bird marks the entrance to the lushly wooded 71 acres campground established in 1997. This campground features shady hiking trails and is surrounded by the Cherokee National Forest. 29 RV campsites and 4 primitive sites nestled among trees and a small stream at the base of the mountain. Warriors' Path State Park

Located 3 miles off I-81. Warriors' Path State Park was named for the park's proximity to the ancient war and trading path used by the Cherokee. Since that time, the parkland has known a long history of travelers, and is still a pathway for modern-day outdoor enthusiasts. Roan Mountain State Park

Located 20 miles off I-26. 6,285 ft. elev. and the "world's largest natural stand of Rhododendron gardens" (600 acres). 30 cabins, 87 campsites with water and electrical hookups. 20 tent sites with community water. Observation Knob Park

Observation Knob Park is a non-alcoholic family campground located on South Holston Lake only a few miles from Bristol Motor Speedway. A prime lakefront camping facility, Observation Knob offers 150 campsites with water and electric, 25 tent sites with water and electric, a fishing pier, boat ramp, hiking trails, playgrounds, and pavilion rentals.

Cherokee National Forest - U.S.D.A Forest Service

Cherokee National Forest's 300,000+ acres in northeast Tennessee offer picnicking, water play, miles of trails and forest roads, camping and backcountry solitude. Two local ranger stations and the Forest website provide regional outdoor recreation information. Maps, brochures, environmental education material is available at forest offices. Outdoor kiosks at both ranger stations provide 24-hour visitor information. Nolichucky-Unaka Ranger Station is located 15 miles from I-81. Watauga Ranger Station is located 1/4 mile from I-26. Davy Crockett Birthplace State Park

Located 21 miles from I-26. Birthplace of one of Tennessee's most famous and greatest sons. The museum exhibits tell of the different aspects of the life of Davy Crockett, the hunter, the politician, the businessman, and the legendary hero as portrayed in the Walt Disney movie of the 1950's. A replica cabin depicts a typical frontier cabin much like the one in which Davy Crockett was born in 1786. 105 acres partially wooded acres of land along the Nolichucky River with a swimming pool, picnic areas, fishing, hiking, 88 campsites with water, electric, sewer, bathrooms, grills, pay phone.
