The Old Glory Celebration is a fundraising community event sponsored by Jonesborough’s Flag Committee in appreciation to those who have adopted flags. The event takes place at the Historic Jonesborough Visitors Center at 7 p.m. and includes refreshments, door prizes, cake walks and a silent auction. For the 5th year, BVU will herald in the Christmas season by sponsoring the Community Tree-Lighting at Cumberland Square in downtown Bristol Virginia.

Set for Monday, November 29, at 6:30p.m., the event showcases a stately 45-foot Norwegian Spruce, which BVU technicians decorate with thousands of lights — about 18,000 of them — for a dramatic and joyous ceremonial display.

Cider and hot chocolate will be provided, and Christmas music will be performed by the Virginia High Bearcat Marching Band and local school choirs.

Line up for the parade will begin at 2 PM at the Mountain City Elementary School. The parade will begin at 4 PM The theme is “The 12 days of Christmas.”
