Video Tour
Andrew Johnson National Historic Site
He was rebellious as a youth. He never went to school, ever. And at 16, he ran away from home. Forty years later, he became the 17th President of the United States. But there’s much more to the tale of Andrew Johnson, and you can hear it all in Greeneville. Re-trace the former president’s life by visiting his tailor shop, two residences, and burial grounds—all part of the President Andrew Johnson National Historic Site. Nearby Tusculum College houses Andrew Johnson’s presidential library—a living testament to the president’s unique legacy. Greeneville is also home to the birthplace of legendary pioneer, backwoods statesman, and hero Davy Crockett, as well as the Dickson-Williams Mansion—the original “Showplace of East Tennessee.”
