National Fossil Day at Gray Fossil Site

**Behind-the-Scenes Tours**
National Fossil Day is a celebration organized to promote public awareness and stewardship of fossils, as well as to foster a greater appreciation of their scientific and educational value.
The ETSU and General Shale Brick Natural History Museum at the Gray Fossil Site will offer a variety of activities for all ages on October 13, 2010 with extended hours of 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. All-Access Passes to the museum will be half-off for the day! Come join us to celebrate the natural history of our region and the new discoveries at the Gray Fossil Site!

Behind the Scenes Tours of the Prep Lab and Collections at 11:00am, 2:00pm, and 5:00pm.
Fossil Site Tours will be held from 9:00am-4:00pm. The Fossil Site Tour is part of the All-Access Pass which is half-off for the day!
Fossil ID Table from 4:00-6:00pm. Local and non-local specimens are welcome!
Dr. Mick Whitelaw will present the fun talk, “What’s in a fossil name? There really is a Hallucigenia!” at 6:00pm.
Create a Fossil Cast out of a dinosaur or Gray Fossil Site mold at 4:00pm.
Try your hand at picking through marine sediment from Aurora, NC and the sediments from the Gray Fossil Site. What can you find? Stations will be set up throughout the day!
Come play a round of Fossil Feud to test your knowledge with other kids ages 9-13 from 4:30-5:30pm.
