Jimmy Martin Memorial Bluegrass Festival

The Hancock County Historical & Genealogical Society will be hosting the third annual Jimmy Martin Memorial Bluegrass Festival in Jimmy’s hometown of Sneedville, TN. Festival site is on Rt#33, Tazewell Highway, just outside Sneedville at the Ken Cantwell airfield. Rv’s and campers are welcome.....free, rough camping with purchase of two-day pass, and can come in anytime during the week of the festival. Lots of specialty booths and food. Appalachian crafts and artists will provide a diverse array of goods.
On Thursday, May 27th, starting at 5:00pm, there will be a free, open mike jam session. A prize of $100 will be given for the best judged band. The Historical Society will have a concession.
Two days of the best in bluegrass music starting at noon on Friday and at 11:00am on Saturday. Featured artists on Friday will be Lonesome Pine band from Greeneville; S&S Express; Mountain Drive from Harlan, KY; Common Strings; Balsam Range from North Carolina, and Town Branch from Virginia. On Saturday, Audie Blaylock and Redline; Barry Scott and Second Wind; Grasstown; Lost Creek; Tazewell Pike; Paul Williams & the Victory Trio, and, during the supper hour the Stoney Creek Cloggers and square dancers will perform. For those living in Morristown/Bean Station area, Steve Wallen at WJDT radio station will also have tickets. Price $15.00/day advance...after May 15th $20.00
