“A Passport to the Arts in Kingsport” Arts Council Arts Crawl 2010
The Arts Council of Greater Kingsport (ACGK) will host the second biannual Arts Council Arts Crawl: A Passport to the Arts in Kingsport on April 29, 2010, 5PM-9PM. This unique collaboration unites artists, residents, and businesses for the purposes of increasing exposure for area artists, providing easy access to arts and entertainment for residents, and raising funds to be used to increase the awareness of the growing arts community in Kingsport.
Our first Arts Crawl was so popular we have decided to do it twice a year. The events will be on the last Thursdays of April and September.
On April 29th from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., visitors to the downtown Kingsport business district will be able to take a trip through the arts by picking up an Arts Crawl Passport under the State Theater Marquee, 157 Broad Street. The passport will include a list of, and directions to, the participating galleries and other venues: BANQ, Cindy Saadeh Fine Art Studio, Ripper Arts Studio & Gallery, Downtown Kingsport Association Gallery, Kingsport Ballet, River Mountains Antiques, Style, Suzanne Barrett Justis Fine Art Studio and Gallery, The Gallery of Local Artists, and Up Against the Wall Gallery. In addition to the venues, we will have our own roving Becky Thatcher and Tom Sawyer from Kingsport Theatre Guild and the Kingsport Big Read Project.
Passport holders will sample a delightful array of hors d’oeuvres created by downtown restaurants while sipping on wine from a souvenir glass. Participating restaurants are: Bountiful Sweet Creations, Sherrie’s Café Catering, Bone Fire Smokehouse, Chef’s Pizzeria, Happy Hostess Restaurant & Catering, Divine Café & Catering, La Campina Mexican Grill, The Courtyard, and Stir Fry Café.
Sponsors for this event are Countryside Vineyards & Winery, Sam’s Package Store, Absolute Communications, and all the great downtown restaurants and galleries listed above.
In conjunction with this spring’s Arts Crawl the Arts Council will be announcing the Arts Award recipients at BANQ at 8:30 p.m. Nominations will be accepted until March 22. Nomination forms are available online at www.kingsportARTS.org.
Tickets for the Arts Crawl are $30.00 per person in advance and $35.00 purchased the day of the event. Tickets can be purchased online at www.KingsportARTS.org. Tickets will also be available for purchase on the night of the event under the marquee at the State Theater, 155 Broad Street.
